The 24^th Conference of the Association of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU), tagged AVCNU2009, is scheduled to hold from June 1-4, 2009 at the University of Ilorin.

"21^st Century University Education in Nigeria:

Strides, Challenges and Pathways."

Background

The Committee of Vice-Chancellors (CVC) of Nigerian Universities was founded in 1962.  The CVC subsequently established the Association of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) as a forum for Vice Chancellors of ALL Nigerian Universities be they Federal, State or privately owned to interact and engage each other in the formulation of implementation of policies that foster growth of Nigeria's tertiary institutions.

Over the years, the conference has served as an avenue to gather all the University Vice-chancellors in Nigeria so they can exchange ideas, debate issues and outline solutions to the challenges they face within their individual institutions.  This year we are desirous of engaging with the employers of Labour, as well as users and potential users of the University System's Intellectual output.
